Innovest Construction's talents were rewarded on 3 December when the company won the 2005 HIA ANZ Western Australian Home of the Year for a Yallingup Home.

 

The award is one of the top housing industry awards and the winning entry will now be judged in the national HIA awards, to be announced in Queensland in May 2006.

 

Innovest Construction's Director, Henry Kusal said the home was a good example of the workmanship and project management Innovest Construction applied to all its projects.

 

"For whatever reasons, some projects end up receiving more recognition than others and this house really seems to have captured people's attention. We work to the same exacting standards regardless of whether we are building a house, school or restaurant," he said.

 

The winning home was designed by The Architecture Group to take advantage of its elevated position overlooking the Indian Ocean. The two storey home, perched on a steep slope, features free standing screen walls in the bedrooms, a 1.2 x 2.7m high sliding cavity door, extensive use of timber veneer-faced cabinet work and an imposing granite stonework fireplace with a polished concrete plinth. Extensive use of external sliding louvres, particularly on the western facade, provides security and effective climate control.
