THERMOMASS

The Thermomass Building System was developed in the USA as a unique thermal control technology capable of insulating buildings against both heat and cold. Thermomass is an insulated concrete sandwich wall system featuring a fully tested pre- engineered design.

Thermomass has been used worldwide since 1980 in over 200 frozen food facilities and hundreds of dry cool storage warehouses. It was first introduced into Australia in 1997.

The superiority of the Thermomass System was quickly recognized in Australia by the wine industry. The product met three significant requirements in being, cost competitive, energy efficient and aesthetically pleasing. Acceptance of Thermomass as the preferred construction method is now evident in the seafood, fruit and vegetable sectors.

Heating and cooling costs are greatly reduced because 99.7 percent of the insulation value is maintained. Unlike alternative construction methods Thermomass walls are fire resistant and are not damaged easily from internal traffic. A Thermomass building can be erected swiftly and allows for many variations in the architectural design of the external wall surface texture and colour.

System Components
Made from a resilient composite matrix, the Thermomass fibre composite connector rods possess remarkable strength and durability. Superior to steel rods they are non-corrosive, chemically resistant and possess low thermal conductivity.

Composite connector rods and insulation are delivered in tandem. Insulation with pre drilled holes allows fast and error free installation of fibre composite connectors. Thermomass offers the first truly insulated building shell without thermal bridges such as nails and steel studs.

The proprietary extrusion process and polystyrene resin used to produce Styrofoam brand insulation creates a closed cell structure. With no gaps or voids between the cells the rigid board resists all forms of water penetration including water vapor transmission. Melbourne based company Composite Systems is the sole supplier of Thermomass in Australia.

Construction Expertise
Innovest Construction is the sole licensed installer of the Thermomass Building System in Australia and specializes in the design and construction of wineries and cold store facilities using Thermomass. Innovest Director of Construction, Henry Kusal has recently spent time observing Thermomass projects in the USA to keep our company current with developments in cold store technology and building techniques.

Endorsements
Innovest has won seventeen construction contracts using the Thermomass System.
Renowned Margaret River Winery Leeuwin Estate commissioned its first wine storage facility in 1997. A second Thermomass barrel store has since been constructed at Leeuwin demonstrating that company's full endorsement of the product.

Qantas Wine Magazine Winemaker of the Year 2000, Vanya Cullen chose Thermomass for the Cullen Wines barrel store constructed at Willyabrup WA. Leeuwin Estate in Margaret River also chose Thermomass for their two barrel stores.

In Victoria Jeftomson CA Fruit Storage has recently commissioned Innovest to construct Thermomass cool storage facilities at Sheparton.
